Assembly & Setup
Do I need tools to assemble?
No. Our furniture uses the Lockdowel system — pieces click together without screws or tools. Most items take 10–15 minutes to set up.
Are instructions included?
Yes. Every order comes with clear, step-by-step assembly instructions. If you need help, we’re happy to walk you through it — just email us.
Should I anchor furniture to the wall?
For bookcases and taller storage pieces, we recommend anchoring to the wall for added safety. Wall anchoring hardware is not included — use hardware appropriate for your wall type.
Materials & Safety
What material is the furniture made of?
All our pieces are made from premium 3/4" maple plywood — thicker and more durable than most kids’ furniture on the market.
Is the plywood safe for kids?
Yes. Our maple plywood is CARB Phase 2 and TSCA Title VI compliant, meaning it meets strict U.S. standards for formaldehyde emissions. All edges are sanded smooth and rounded with safety in mind.
Why is the furniture unfinished?
We ship every piece sanded smooth and unfinished so you have full control over the final look. Paint it, stain it, or leave it natural — it’s yours to finish. This also means you choose the finish that’s right for your family.
Will the wood grain look exactly like the photos?
Each piece has unique wood grain patterns and textures — that’s the beauty of real wood. Slight variations are natural and part of its charm.
Shipping & Delivery
Where do you ship?
We ship anywhere in the contiguous United States via UPS Ground.
How long does shipping take?
Most orders ship within 3–5 business days and arrive within 5–10 business days depending on your location. You’ll receive tracking info by email once your order ships.
Do you offer local delivery in Atlanta?
Yes! If you’re in the metro Atlanta area, local delivery can be coordinated for a fee. Contact us to arrange it.
Montessori & Design
Is your furniture Montessori certified?
Our furniture is Montessori-inspired — designed around the principles of child-led independence, accessibility, and organization. There is no official “Montessori certification” for furniture.
What ages is the furniture designed for?
Most of our pieces are designed for children ages 2–8, though many (like our desks and shelves) grow with your child and remain useful well beyond that range. Check individual product pages for specific age recommendations.
Can I request custom modifications?
We’re happy to discuss custom sizes or modifications when possible. Email us at cabinets@skilledtrim.com with your request and we’ll let you know what’s doable.
Orders & Returns
What’s your return policy?
We offer a 30-day return window from delivery. Items must be unassembled, in original packaging, and in unused condition. See our Return Policy for full details.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage and we’ll make it right — either with a replacement part or a full replacement, no hassle.
